Street Maintenance is an operating section of the Public Works Department. This section is responsible for the street infrastructure system, which includes all paved right of ways, signage, pavement striping, traffic signals and street lighting.
It is the mission of Street Maintenance to provide a comprehensive and cost effective program for the maintenance and revitalization of public right of ways resulting in a safe means of travel for the public.
Transportation Permits
When driving multi-axle or oversized loads through the City of Lathrop, transportation permits are required. Transportation permits can be obtained at the Public Works Department, please call (209) 941-7430 for more information.
Traffic Calming Program
The City of Lathrop Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program was passed and adopted on March 25, 2008. The Traffic Calming Program was established by the City of Lathrop to address and resolve local neighborhood traffic concerns and quality of life issues. The Traffic Calming Program expands the City’s current approach to mitigate neighborhood concerns in a systematic and efficient manner. In developing the program, City staff reviewed the traffic calming programs of other cities, conducted additional research and incorporated many other effective ideas and traffic calming measures into the program document.

Traffic Counts
Traffic counts are available at the Public Works Department. Please call the City of Lathrop Public Works Department for more information.
Traffic Lights
The City of Lathrop is responsible for all the traffic lights within the city limits. Should any traffic lights be inoperable, please call the Public Works Department at (209) 941-7430.

Bus Shelters
The City of Lathrop Public Works Department is responsible for all the bus shelter. If you should find a vandalized bus shelter, please call the Public Works Department at (209) 941-7430.
Lathrop Active Transportation Plan (ATP)
The ATP provides a strategy to develop citywide walking, bicycling, and transit connections that provide access between residential neighborhoods, schools, transit, and jobs. These network improvements are combined with a menu of options for recommended education, encouragement, and evaluation programs to provide a holistic approach to improving active transportation in Lathrop. Improvement recommendations for Lathrop will be developed in partnership with the community to create a plan that works for residents, business owners, and visitors to Lathrop.
