City Attorney
Under Lathrop’s form of government, the City Council appoints the City Manager and the City Attorney. In addition to the City Attorney, the office is staffed by one Legal Assistant.
Functions of the City Attorney’s Office
- Provides legal advice to the City Council, Commissions, Boards and City staff.
- Attends all City Council and Planning Commission meetings, and the meetings of other commissions as requested.
- Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of and/or review of all legal documents, ordinances, resolutions and leases.
- Prepares and/or assists in the negotiations of all contracts.
- Prosecutes City of Lathrop Municipal Code violations.
- Assists in the coordination and supervision of work of special counsel to the City of Lathrop.
- Processes Public Record Requests.
