Garbage service is mandatory within the City of Lathrop. For a list of additional Residential Waste Requirements, please review the Lathrop Municipal Code.

REPUBLIC SERVICES

Republic Services provides residential waste services to City of Lathrop residents. Garbage service bills and payments are processed by Republic Services and utility bills and utility payments are processed by the City of Lathrop. Residents receive separate billing statements for these two services.

Ways To Pay Your Bill:

By phone at 1-877-692-9729

Drop off a check or money order at City Hall at the Public Works counter.

Log in to your Republic Services account. 

Mail your payment along with the remittance slip to: 390 Towne Centre Dr., Lathrop, CA 95330. Please write your 12-digit account number beginning with a “3” on your check.

Discounts:

Republic Services offers discounts for Senior Citizens over the age of 65, Veterans and low income. Please call (209) 466-3604 for more information. 

 

THREE CART SYSTEM

The City of Lathrop has a three (3) cart system for the collection of garbage, recycling and green waste. The three cart system was established to enable residents to assist in reducing the amount of waste that is dumped in landfills.

What Goes In Each Cart?

Blue Recycling Cart:

Newspapers, cardboard, including cereal boxes, soda boxes, etc., glass bottles and jars, aluminum, tin, and steel, plastic containers (#1-7) and all junk mail and phone books.

Green Waste Cart:

Grass clippings, tree trimmings, pruning, leaves, brush, and weeds. Please do not put in any dirt, rocks, concrete or tree stumps.

Food scraps- fruits, vegetables, egg shells, dairy products, baked goods and meats.

Food soiled paper including pizza boxes and paper plates.

Brown Garbage Cart:

Household garbage only. Size of brown garbage cart determines amount you are charged monthly for service.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Republic Services also provides additional services which include the pick-up of additional garbage cans/bags and special pick-ups. These services are provided for an additional fee and must be arranged in advance. Contact Republic Services for more information.

Service Interruption:

If you are out of town for a minimum of a month and a maximum of two (2) months, you may request to have your service interrupted during this time. Please contact Republic Services at (209) 466-3604 to make arrangements. A service interruption request for longer than two months may be granted if the property is vacant. Contact Republic Services for details.

Curbside:

Wheel all carts to the curb or road edge with the wheels against the curb/road by 5:00a.m. on your regular collection day. Place carts in a visible location at least 2 feet apart, away from mailboxes, trees, and parked cars.

Weekly:

Carts are emptied on your regularly scheduled collection day, but not by the same truck. For health and safety reasons, residents are required to set out the brown garbage cart each week. You may choose to set out your blue recycling and green waste cart only when full, which might not be every week.

 

ADDITIONAL SERVICES

Excess Recycling or Yard Waste and Service Change:

If you have extra recycling or green waste, you will need to call Republic Services prior to 3:00p.m. the day before your regularly scheduled day to request additional pick up. This service is free.

If your garbage was missed, carts were damaged or are missing, would like to request a start or stop to services, or have questions regarding billing or rates, please call Republic Services at (209) 466-3604.

If you have more household garbage than will fit inside your cart please call Republic Services, (209) 466-3604, to request an extra service pick-up, for which there is a fee.

Holiday Pick-Up Information:

Republic Services observes two holidays a year, Christmas and New Years Day. If your collection day falls on one of these holidays, or late in the week of that holiday, service will be delayed by one day late the rest of the week. All other holidays throughout the year will have regularly scheduled services. For two weeks following Christmas, you may put your wrapping paper out in a separate garbage bag and place it next to your garbage container for pick up. Additionally, during this time frame Republic Services will collect discarded Christmas Trees. Please discard all ornaments, nails, tinsel, lights and tree stands - trees containing these items cannot be serviced. Place the tree curbside on your garbage collection day.    

Bulk Pick-Up:

Republic Services offers Lathrop households 2 bulk item pick-ups per year at no additional charge.

In order to serve you better, bulk trash collection will now be done by appointment only. Please call Republic Services offices at 209.466.3604 during the months of February through November to schedule your collection date.

All bulky items to be discarded must be placed on the curbside on the evening before the scheduled pick-up date.

Items ACCEPTED for Pick-Up:

  • Furniture
  • E-Waste & Appliances (TV’s, monitors, etc.)
  • Please separate appliances and electronics from other trash items as they will be collected by a separate truck.
  • Up to 4 tires without rims
  • Bagged or boxed small items – Containers can weigh no more than 50 lbs.
  • Republic Services will collect up to 2.5 cubic yards of bulky items.  Your pile should be no more than 3 feet wide by 7.5 feet long by 3 feet high, including appliances.

Items NOT Accepted for Pick-Up:

  • Loose or un-bagged items
  • Bags or boxes over 50 pounds
  • Engines and engine parts
  • Hazardous waste and liquids
  • Dirt, rock, concrete, bricks. Etc.

Any pile over 2.5 cubic yards will not be picked-up.

Christmas Tree Pick-Up:

Occurs during the first two weeks of January. If your tree is taller than 6 feet, it must be cut in half to be collected (no artificial trees). Discard of all ornaments, nails, tinsel, lights and tree stands. You may also put wrapping paper out in a separate garbage bag and place it next to your garbage container for pick-up. 

Annual Leaf and Limb Pick-Up:

During the first 2 weeks of January, leaves and limbs that do not fit into your organics cart will be collected on the curb. Leaves must be bagged and cannot exceed more than 50 lbs. Bundle brush with string or twine. Do not use wire. Limbs must not exceed 4 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter.
