High Heat Expected for July 1, 2024 through July 11, 2024 

Stay informed, check the National Weather Service (NWS) for Heat Advisory notifications.

  • WHAT: High temperatures 100 to 111 expected. Limited overnight relief with low temperatures in the mid 60s to low 70s.
  • WHERE: Central Sacramento Valley, Motherlode, Northern Sacramento Valley, Northern San Joaquin Valley, and eastern side of the Southern Sacramento Valley.
  • WHEN: July 1, 2024 through July 11, 2024
  • IMPACTS: Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Widespread Moderate HeatRisk with areas of Major HeatRisk expected. Warmest lows in the northern and central Sacramento Valley and foothills.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:

  • Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
  • Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Due to the extreme heat predicted in the forecast, the Lathrop Police Department Community Room at 940 River Islands Parkway will serve as a Cooling Center from Monday, July 1, 2024 through Friday, July 5, 2024

  • Hours of Operation: 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily.
    • Note: The center will close at 6:00 p.m. if no attendees are present.

Residents in need are encouraged to use this facility to stay safe from the dangerous heat. The Cooling Center will accommodate household pets and companion animals.

All residents are advised to maintain proper hydration and to utilize cool shelter during this extreme heat weather event.
