On your question about installing a little free library, please submit an illustration for our review and approval. The illustration should show the distance of the structure to the property lines, driveway and the house/garage. Also indicate the height and dimension of the library itself (L X W X H).
Regarding your question on RV parking in residential areas, unfortunately, recreational vehicles are not allowed to be parked in any residential districts except if they are within an enclosed side or rear yard or garage per LMC Chapter 17.76.020 (B1), I’ve attached the code for your reference.
In regards to converting your front yard to Xeriscaping, the City do encourage our residents to use drought friendly landscaping to conserve water and reduce yard trimmings. Please note that per LMC Chapter 17.92.020 “At least thirty-five percent (35%) of the front yard and street-side yard shall be landscaped consisting of living plant materials including, but not limited to, trees, shrubs, groundcover, natural turf, flowers, and vines”(See attached). In addition, all front yards must contain, in addition to other landscaping, a minimum of one tree planted. We recommend you submit a landscape plan (a sketch showing and identifying landscape materials, trees, shrubs, groundcover, turf, irrigation materials, etc.) for our review and approval before making any changes to your front yard.
Hope this information is helpful. We’ve made several attempts to contact you by phone to discuss the questions with you but only your voicemail picks up and it will not take any messages. Please contact us if you have any other questions.
