Good morning!
I'm writing to request that the Lathrop's Park and Rec become vendors with Homeschool Charter Schools (i.e. Visions in Education, Connecting Waters). There are several families that I know of, with multiple children, who would love to place all of their children in the programs offered but can't because of finances. Homeschool charters provide funds for each child enrolled, which gives parents freedom from stressing about enrichment and extracurricular activity fees. My family alone have five children who participate in Lathrop's youth programs regularly.
My second request is for more activities for kids beyond age 13. Most kids get into trouble around 13-14 years old because they have so much idle time on their hands. My older kids have participated in most of Lathrop's programs since they were 8 and are now coming up on 14, which disqualifies them from participating in the things they love the most. Junior Giants, for example, offers a program for 14-18 year olds. It would be amazing if that part of the program is offered next summer in our city. There are surrounding cities that offer that age range, BUT I'd rather put my money into my community.

Thank you for your message in regards to the City of Lathrop programs. We do offer an Activity Assistance Fund that does provide funding to assistance but I would be interested in meeting to discussing the Visions in Education, Connecting Waters program. Please contact Todd Sebastian at 209-941-7385 or by email at tsebastian@ci.llathrop.ca.us.
We do offer additional programs for our local Teens at the teen center at 450 Spartan Way. When we get together we can also discuss programming for youth ages 14 -18.
