This is intended to be directed to the office of the Lathrop Fire Department and in particular, Fire Station 31.

For over 41 years we here on J Street have had a good working relationship with the Fire Station 31 crews and have had an agreement that when going out on a call that they would not turn on their sirens and or horns until they are going down the street either in a Northerly or Easterly direction as long as there are no cars or pedestrians walking near the station, as to not direct the sound from their sirens and horns directly into the homes directly across the street.

Lately, since the first of the year, sirens and horns have been being turned on as soon as the doors to the bays open up or soon afterwards.

We understand the issue of having to test the equipment every morning to make sure things are working, but even that would be better tolerated if they could pull the trucks and engines around to the back of the station and face the open grass area or Manuel Valverde Park. (That way the noise doesn't really affect anyone.)

Anyway, is there anyway that the Lathrop-Manteca Fire Station 31 could go back to not using their sirens and or horns until they are going down the street and not coming directly out of the building to respect the concerns of the neighbors and cut down on the loud sounds going directly into their houses?

 Thank you for your time.
