 To whom it may concern,

What department do I need to contact within the city offices to make a formal complaint against an establishment within the city limits, (The Cafe Platano Bar & Grill at 14725 S. Harlan Rd), for excessive and loud amplified music?

I have contacted the establishment itself and gotten no where.

I have contacted and complained to the local police department almost every Friday and Saturday night for well over a month now and still the problem continues. (It has gotten to the point where the local residents now are acting like "what the heck, if they...(the business)... can do it, so can we" and loud music is being played far into the night, past 2:00 AM.) The police, just recently said they could not find the place where the music is/was coming from, or they couldn't hear it and yet if you come into my backyard it sounds like the music is coming from right there in front of you.

I would like to see about either stopping the establishment, the Cafe Platano Bar & Grill, from being able to acquire such a permit if they haven't applied for one yet or possibly get the city to think about revoking a permit that has already been issued due to failure to follow established rules for a permit for playing of loud or amplified music. (Time restraints, Db levels, distance away from source the sound can be heard, etc.)

 Thank you for your time.

Business owner has known about the city policy for many weeks now and has chosen to do nothing up to know.

I have made complaints basically every weekend with the LPD and they have talked to him.

I have also written complaints to the city through the city website.

With the prior complaints and the businesses failure to comply so far, I am asking that said permits etc. not be given.

I have talked to others in the surrounding area and they don’t like the noise of the loud music either.

This is mostly a residential area and should be treated as such.

If this business is allowed to play their loud music, others in the area will and have already been doing the same thing thinking nothing will happen to them.

It is turning into a battle of the bands/radios/DJ’s/etc neighborhood. It’s already bad enough with the vehicles around town and their loud radios.
