To whom it may concern,
I am not here to be political, at all, I would just like to express my concern for the potential child getting hit by a car due to the poor bicycle infrastructure in place. I know no one is going to do anything about it until one of the kids (or god forbid multiple kids) on their bicycles are flattened like pancakes because of reckless drivers, but that's how things work out here. While I am deeply concerned about the spread of Coronavirus, I would like to give these kids props for making their own community and bringing some life to these otherwise lifeless, dreadfully void of any sense of community, hellholes we call suburbs. Lathrop has to be one of the worst places to ever grow up, and I know that first hand. Once I've saved enough money to leave, I definitely will. Anyways, in short I would like future roads to be more bike friendly, especially along main roads where there are lots of cars. Raised bike paths separating bikes from cars, narrower roads so drivers slow down, flashing lights to warn drivers of cyclist and pedestrians, green bike paths, or SOMETHING to reduce the risk of a kid getting injured and/or killed. The pathetic excuse for a "bike lane" we have now is not going to stop someone who isn't paying attention from running into a child. The mass amounts of children on their bikes and the outrageously wide roads and intersections is a recipe for a bloodbath.
Since this is the city of Lathrop, I highly doubt this problem will be addressed (just like any suburban government out here would do). But I thought I would try to get someone's attention.
