Hello,
We received a brochure in the mail from "San Juaquin Area Flood Control Agency" trying to convince property owners to fund a project to improve the levees in the Mossdale Tract area. They are proposing an annual property assessment to fund levees improvement project for 200 years flood protection. The brochure claims that the Mossdale Tract Area is out of compliance with state and federal flood requirements. The letter lacks lots of data and seems to be biased as its main objective is to create fear to convince property owners to vote "yes" on this proposal.
With that being said, I wanted to reach to the city to confirm the facts stated in the brochure.
1. Is the Mossdale Tract area truly out of compliance with state and federal flood requirements? If so, then how did the city allow for new builds to take place in the area? My house was built in 2022.
2. Is the San Juaquin Area Flood Control Agency a state owned agency? or is it a private agency?
