To whom it may concern,
On December 26,2020 me and few more friends were playing soccer at Woodfield park, the senior facility attendant Catherine Fair showed up to tell us we could not play soccer at the park claiming we were creating a league and that we were 20 people when in reality it was just 13 of us trying to play soccer, then she proceeded to call law enforcement and when officer arrived he found no motive to not let us play. The park doesn't have any sign or anything that forbids any activity. At the same time there was people playing baseball and another different group playing soccer as well and she did not appeared bothered by these but Us only. She was trying to find an excuse for us to leave the park and she couldn't find one, for example the grass, the grass is all dry and holes all over the place due to groundhogs.Police officer showed up again and even he said there was nothing he could do because we were not breaking any rule or anything. Most of Us are Lathrop residents and pay our taxes and parks as far as I'm aware it's a public place. Thursday December 24,2020 we played at the same park police drove by and he parked his patrol but he did not approached us or anything, we were in an open field.
I would like to know what are the rules to follow for playing soccer or any sport, again, we are not a league it's just 13 friends that want to run and play soccer just for fun. If we are not allowed I'm assuming anyone playing football, baseball or any other sport isn't allowed either.

It was a pleasure speaking with you yesterday, as I stated I appreciate you taking the time to submit your concern through the City of Lathrop website. I did have the opportunity to review your comments yesterday and wanted to apologize for how the situation was handled on Saturday, December 26. As I mentioned in our conversation I will be following with our staff member to ensure this does not happen again. Thank you again for taking the time to forward your concern.
