Solar permits are taking 75 day average to approve from the building department. I assumed it was because they were using a 3rd party plan checker (Interwest) to review plans. After further investigation I was able to conclude that Interwest only takes five days to approve plans. The reason why plan checks were taking upwards of 30 days to be reviewed is because the building department was not forwarding them to Interwest in a timely manner. Your current cycle times state that the average cycle time for a residential solar permit is 10 days. We need to find a solution to sever the citizens of Lathrop more effectively.
