This is for the mayor of Lathrop and the Chief of Lathrop Police. I reported Monday, January 11th, 2021 that while on my way to work , at 3:40 AM, I was robbed at gunpoint at the Chevron gas station on Mossdale Road (by Dell Osso Family Farm), while I was pumping gas. I was in a commuter mini-van with 3 other coworkers. I want to know why the gas stations are allowed to operate to make a profit at the expense of the security of the people? The gas station owners should be responsible to ensure a security detail to protect patrons during off-peak hours. In other words, they are not doing anyone but themselves a favor by operating an open but unprotected and unmanned gas station in the middle of the night. The setting invites criminals to the area to prey on innocent, unsuspecting, hard working citizens like myself. I propose that we force the gas station owners to have security on site during off peak hours or close for the shift. Compliance should be obligatory. Also, we should be stepping up patrols and working extra hard right now to secure the streets of Lathrop. The most important thing is that we have a SAFE community where we are not "sitting ducks."
