Dog License
LMC 6.12.180 License required—Fees.
A. Every person owning, possessing, keeping, harboring or having custody of any dog over four months old shall obtain a license for each dog and appropriate license fees shall be paid annually. Fees and charges shall be established from time to time by resolution of the council. Such license shall be obtained, and the fee therefor paid, on or before the first day of February in any year, or within thirty (30) days after the day upon which the dog is four months old, or within thirty (30) days after acquisition of the dog, or within thirty (30) days of moving into the city.
California State Law requires you to license your dog.

In rabies areas, all of the following shall apply:
(a) Every dog owner, after his or her dog attains the age of four months, shall no less than once every two years secure a license for the dog as provided by ordinance of the responsible city, city and county, or county. License fees shall be fixed by the responsible city, city and county, or county, at an amount not to exceed limitations otherwise prescribed by state law or city, city and county, or county charter.
Four Ways to License Your Dog:
1) In Person: City Hall located at 390 Towne Centre Dr. is open 8 A.M. to 6 P.M. Monday through Thursday and 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. on Fridays.
2) Mail: Send your dog license renewal stub or license application to the address above. Please enclose a check payable to "City of Lathrop" with appropriate fees. Include a spay/neuter certificate and a current rabies vaccination certificate.
3) Phone: Call during business hours to pay with debit/credit card. Have your pet's information ready.
4) Online: This feature is for renewals only. (If the dog has already been previously licensed in Lathrop)
Proof of Rabies Vaccination & Spay/Neuter
A current rabies vaccination certificate is required to issue or renew a license. A spay or neuter certificate is required as proof to receive a reduced license fee. If you are licensing online, upload a copy of your pet's current rabies vaccination certificate and proof of spay/neuter (if applicable). We cannot process your license if you do not provide the required paperwork.
