Investigations Unit

Police Detectives Analyzing Evidence

The Investigations Unit examines crimes that have potential suspects or leads, but are too complex or time-consuming for the originally assigned patrol officer to complete in a timely manner. Primary responsibility is to provide comprehensive follow up on crimes committed against persons and property, or narcotics related offenses, occurring within the City of Lathrop.

Detectives proactively conduct investigations of crime, as well as perform follow-up investigations already begun by a patrol officer to make every attempt to solve a crime. Our plainclothes (non-uniformed) Detectives are supervised by a Police Sergeant, and typically are assigned to work during normal business hours, but their schedules are adjusted to meet workload demands. Lathrop Police Detectives are considered general investigators, meaning they are trained and experienced to investigate all crimes, rather than only a specific type of crime.

Investigations is staffed by a Detective Sergeant, two Detectives, and is overseen by the Division Commander. You may contact the investigations unit at (209) 647-6400.
