The Community Resource Officer is dedicated to developing and deploying resources
unique to Law Enforcement to better serve the people who live, visit or work in
the city of Lathrop. If you would like any information on any of the following topics,
please give me a call or send me an e-mail.
Child Identification Kits
The Child Safety ID program is offered to the public at least once a year, traditionally
during the city “Birthday Party” celebrated on July 1. The Program kit
consists of three basic elements: a ten-print fingerprint card, a digital photograph
and an informational folder.
Neighborhood Watch Groups
Neighbor Watch is a crime prevention program which enlists the active participation
of citizens in cooperation with the police. It involves neighbors getting to know
each other and working together in a program of mutual assistance. Citizens being
trained to recognize and report suspicious activates in their neighborhoods.
Junior Police Academy
The Lathrop Junior Police Academy is a two-week, forty-hour long course of study
offered each summer to Lathrop residents enrolled in fifth, sixth, seventh or eighth
grades. The Academy functions as a crime prevention and educational arm of Lathrop
Police Services
Lathrop's Citizen's Police Academy
The goal of the Lathrop Police Services Citizens Academy is to promote a better
relationship between the police department and our community it serves. The Citizen's
Academy is being offered two hours a week on consecutive Wednesdays over a nine-week
period to citizens 18 years of age or older. To help better-inform citizens by fostering
a clearer understanding of a police officer's duties and how the officer carries
out those duties.
National Night Out
The first Tuesday in August is National Night Out. Lathrop Police coordinates block
parties hosted by Neighborhood Watch groups or interested individual citizens citywide.
The CRO recruits and motivates party hosts and keeps track of scheduled events while
arranging for participation of city officers, public safety personnel and other
interested parties. The CRO serves as a clearinghouse of information for the people
who host the parties and the people who visit them
Women's Awarness
The Womens Awarness class is designed to help women in our community better protect
themselves against danger and to be aware of there surroundings. It
is offered two hours a week on consecutive Wednesday evenings for 4 weeks. Students
will receive information on the following topics:
*Personal protection
*Domestic Violence Issues
*FATS simulator demonstration
*Identity Theft
