Field Operations & Services:
Pick Up Animals
To Report a Stray, Injured, Abused, Aggressive or Dead Animal that Needs to
Be Picked Up:
Please call Lathrop Animal Services at 209-941-7240. The Animal Services Assistant
will send out an Animal Services Officer to handle your complaint. If there is no
answer at the office, please leave a detailed message on the answering machine about
your complaint and your call back number. This system is directly linked to an Officer
out in the field and he/she will call you back or respond to your complaint as soon
as they are available.
If you wish to report a dead or stray animal on or along any highway, you should
call the California Highway Patrol. The phone number for the California Highway
Patrol is (209) 943-8600. Please call Lathrop Animal Services as well at (209)941-7240
to advise us of the situation. Most often, we can arrive on scene within a few minutes
to assess the situation and assist; however, due to safety concerns, our assistance
is limited.
If your own pet becomes ill or is injured, you should call your veterinarian or
the one nearest to you. Local veterinarians' phone numbers are listed in the yellow
pages of the phone book under Veterinarians. For cases after your vet's normal hours,
an emergency veterinary clinic provides care for sick or injured pets. You can call
either Associated Veterinary Emergency Services located at 3008 E. Hammer Lane,
Stockton 209-952-8387 or the Modesto Veterinary Emergency Clinic located at 1800
Prescott Rd., Modesto 209-527-8844.
