Requirements to Adopt
To adopt an animal from Lathrop Animal Services, you must:
- Be 18 years of age or older with a valid California driver’s license or other
acceptable identification;
- Visit with the dog or cat you plan to adopt. Adopters should bring all the human
members of their household to meet their new companion. However, please to not bring
any of your other pets;
- Show proof of homeownership or permission from your landlord to have a pet;
- Never have had any cruelty convictions, animal control violations or broken any
adoption contracts in the past;
- Pay the adoption fees by cash, check or credit card, the same day as the adoption.
We do not place any holds on any animals;
- Pick up your new pet at the designated Veterinary Clinic the following day if she/he
has not been spayed/neutered;
- Agree to and sign the "Statement of Buyer" (see below).
Statement of Buyer
I (we) hereby acknowledge receipt from you of the animal ______________________
(animal services number). I (we) understand that Lathrop Animal Services makes NO
WARRANTY in regard to the animal’s ownership, condition, disposition, past
behavior and health. I (we) agree that the City of Lathrop and/or its officers and/or
employees shall not be liable, answerable, or accountable in any manner for the
injury to any person or damage to property or loss of use thereof caused by said
officers and employees, from any suits, claims, or actions brought by any person
or persons for or on account of any bodily injuries, disease, illness or damage
caused by said animal.
