The City of Lathrop’s East Lathrop Community Complex Project includes development of an approximately three (3) acre block located between 6th and 7th Streets and L Street and Thomsen Road in Lathrop. The block currently houses a Head Start Facility, the current City Skate Park, and abandoned house and the current City corporation yard. The latter two will be demolished prior to development of this project, but the Head Start Facility and Skate Park will remain throughout development.
In 2007, a series of public workshops was held which led to the development of the current Master Plan for the East Lathrop Community Complex, which includes adjacent street improvements, a Youth & Teen Center building, play equipment, art walk, skate park expansion, parking lot, outdoor stage with turf seating mound, landscape, irrigation, security lighting, underground utilities and storm water basin. In 2009, the Lathrop City Council decided it would be in the best interest of the community to build a new Public Library along with the Youth & Teen Center at the East Lathrop Community Complex. This current series of public workshops will focus mostly on how to best lay out the Public Library and Youth & Teen Center in the building and will determine the community’s priorities for facility and programming needs of each part of the building. The outcome of this series of workshops will be a revised Master Plan for the East Lathrop Community Complex, including floor plan and sections of the proposed building.
LDA Partners, LLP was chosen by the City Council in January 2010 to be the Architect to complete the design of the East Lathrop Community Complex.
